8/13/2023 0 Comments Nemesis lockdown rulebookI was a little salty about them purposely sabotaging my escape (despite the fact that I literally hit the self destruct button), but overall it was a great story. Everyone was happy that if they died, at least I did too. It killed him, but as I was fighting the alien, the ship blew up. The third guy noisily moved into my room just to cause an alien to appear. Another was surrounded by aliens and almost dead. Once the self destruct was past the point of no return, I hopped through a vent to an undiscovered room that just so happened to have the escape pod. So I just locked all doors into my room while everyone else fought aliens and tried to save the ship. It also happened to be my objective to do so. I happened to find the room and item that allowed me to self destruct the ship on turn two. I played for the first time a couple weeks ago, and didn't know what I was doing. (I pledged for both, and am starting to worry that Lockdown will have the same “more is less” issue that we saw with the expansion race.)Įveryone cheered at my character's death, too. Nemesis is a known quantity that people can advise you on to make an informed decision, whereas Lockdown is a total unknown. As a result, if you are making a choice between Nemesis and Lockdown, go with Nemesis if you can. Subbing in one of the different alien races ended up upsetting that balance by adding in too many new rules and negative effects without enough compensation. The base game feels like it’s miraculously walking a tightrope over a pit of jankiness and chance, somehow perfectly threading an impossible needle to end up tuned just right to maximize theme, storytelling, and mechanics. *When we played with one of the expansions, we were a bit underwhelmed. Everyone “plays to win” to keep the stakes high, but an ironic death (one of our most memorable games ended with the player who repeatedly backstabbed everybody getting unceremoniously killed by a surprise attack from the queen, which caused everyone who’d been betrayed by him to cheer) must be seen as part of the game, rather than a frustrating prevention of a win. *Whenever we introduce it to a new player, we repeatedly warn them that the game is absolutely brutal, and that the focus of the evening is on watching the story that emerges. My group and I love it, BUT, there are some things to keep in mind: There goes my nemesis money lol, but he’s going to be okay in a few days. Last question is, if I get the game and don't love it, where is a good place to sell it? Ebay?Įdit: well I was gonna pick it up today from a local store but my dog just went to the vet for a surprise bacteria infection. Is there action every turn or is there "empty" turns like in Catan/Monopoly/Key to the Kingdom? Turns where you aren't doing anything but moving from point A to point B, but it takes 4-5 turns. I also am wondering how much time I would be wasted wandering about the boat without action. I've seen reviews in the past from 20 on Reddit, that both criticize early (new) player elimination, but Ive also read this can be fixed with a houserule of either start again as a new player, or just no sudden larva deaths before the first ten rounds (reshuffle the event card back into the deck). If you were to get Nemesis in 2021, would you wait for Nemesis Lockdown to hit retail or just pick up Nemesis core game online? r/tabletopgamedesign - Designer's subreddit.r/boardgameexchange - selling/buying/trading games. ![]() Game of the Week Calendar Related Sites & Subreddits The simplest use is to bold game names in your comment and add " /u/r2d8 getinfo" at the end of the post, but this post/sub has other features identified.
